Becton (American, born 1947) Open Door, 2001-07, Digital montage, 24 x 36 in., Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Jerrold Scoutt, Jr. 2007.7 March 29 - July 6, 2008 Home and Away features works that illustrate a range of photographic processes beginning with the earliest photographs: daguerreotypes and tintypes from the 1850s, through contemporary works. Central to the exhibition is Open Door, a digital montage by Jeffrey C. They serve their owners as tools, furniture, housewares, playthings, and objects of personal adornment. They were made for people in all walks of life - from farmers or weavers to chiefs and kings although those belonging to elite members of society are likely to be highly elaborated or made from precious materials such as ivory or brass. » African Personal Art and Adornment
