This introductory three-hour workshop will give beginning level students the opportunity to try the class before committing to the full semester course. Through demonstrations and hands on experience, students will learn some of the basics of metalsmithing and will then have time to complete a finished piece of jewelry. Materials to make jewelry will be provided.
Students who take this class and then enroll in the full semester of beginning jewelry will have their registration fee waived.

Students will learn, through demonstrations and projects, basic techniques including sawing, texturing, riveting, soldering, chainmaking and bezel setting. Students can work in silver, copper and brass, which may be purchased from the School of Art reception desk.
